E-Commerce best practices for website implementation include processes, procedures and deliverables that should be considered requirements to maintain control of your e-commerce website.

Deliverables:

In general, the business/website owner should insist on having contractual rights to all website components and files, not defer those rights to the web developer. Limitations could exist if the website uses 3rd party or Open Source Software, which have existing restrictions.

Along with full rights to all files, the implementation of a website should include the web developer delivering both the production version of files and the source files to the website owner. In some cases, such as Flash, changes cannot be made to a web page component without the source file.
